During my short life as a fashion blog post author, all my girlfriends are already asking me why I didn’t comment about the Oscar 2007’s best dress and worst dress list. I’m never a celebrity chaser, never was a fan of any star while growing up. So, I feel more guilty about not discussing the best film of the year than not discussing who wore what on that day. Why do we care so much about what the stars wear to the Oscar anyway? What does that have to do with us? Do we have a lot of red-carpet events to attend to, or can we actually afford the same dress Nicole Kidman wore?
While I was trying to get a grasp at my friends’ great interest about something that seems to be not worth our time paying attention to, I accidentally tumbled intothis Red Halter Dress on the left (Sale Price $35.99) This dress originally was retailed at $59.99, now I want to show you, my girlfriends, this is what we should direct our attention to, not Nicole Kidman’s dress that we can’t afford and we have no use for! This dress is so wearable for a cocktail, for an opera, for our engagement party, for our own birthday bash… etc… It has a very pretty halther neck design with gathers and ruby buttons embellishment for a stylish look, but it doesn’t have that clumpsy big collar and that gigantic big bows on Nicole Kidman’s dress that makes you look like a death roll inmate who is one step away from being hanged. I have no idea why every fashion critic thinks that dress is so great, as Nicole can do no wrong in fashion and if we dare to crictize her dress, we will get arrested by her secret police. Nicole had worn much better dresses before. Her dress this year didn’t impress me. (who is the designer, by the way?) That dress has pretty bodice, but the extremely big and long bow made me worry about her getting tripped every step she made (oh my God, now I’m discussing about the Oscar dresses too….).
Anyway, this halter dress that I discovered has a slimming bodice and styish gathered waist design. For those of us who lack the slim long legs, flattened lower belly, and porportional hips like Nicole, this dress will hide our lower bulge. I can guarantee this dress is more comfortable to walk in and dance in. No, I won’t recommend Nicole to wear this dress to an Oscar even though I totally disapprove of her dress, this dress is for common folks like us.
